Tor

TorTor is an anonymous Internet communication system. It’s a toolset for a wide range of organizations and people that want to improve their safety and security on the Internet. Using Tor can help you anonymize web browsing and publishing, instant messaging, IRC, SSH, and other applications that use the TCP protocol. Tor also provides a platform on which software developers can build new applications with built-in anonymity, safety, and privacy features. Tor aims to defend against traffic analysis, a form of network surveillance that threatens personal anonymity and privacy, confidential business activities and relationships, and state security.

SpamAssassin

SpamassassinA free, open-source mail filter, written in Perl, to identify spam using a wide range of heuristic tests on mail headers and body text. This is a very powerful server side anti-spam filter which can be used on a wide variety of email systems including procmail, sendmail, Postfix, qmail, and many others. I’ve been using SpamAssassin in many Qmail servers and the results are amazing. It’s easy to install and requires very little configuration. Policies can be applied on both mail servers and later using the user’s own mail user-agent application.
