KisMAC

KismacKisMAC is a free stumbler application for MacOS X, that puts your card into the monitor mode. Unlike most other applications for OS X it has the ability to run completely invisible and send no probe requests. Unlike console-based Kismet, KisMAC offers a pretty GUI and was around before Kismet was ported to OS X. These are few things among many that KisMAC can do: reveals cloaked SSIDs, reveals logged in Clients (incl. MAC Addresses), mapping and GPS support, visualization of network coverage, PCAP im- and export, support for 802.11b & g, different attacks against encrypted networks, deauthentication attacks, Apple Script compatible (in newest SVN version).

Netstumbler

NetstumblerNetstumbler is a free windows wireless sniffer. It is the most popular windows tool for finding open wireless access points (”wardriving”) using the 802.11b, 802.11a and 802.11g WLAN standards. It is also useful in verifying network configurations, finding locations with poor coverage in one’s WLAN, detecting causes of wireless interference, detecting unauthorized (”rogue”) access points, aiming directional antennas for long-haul WLAN links.

Netscreen

NetscreenNetscreen series integrated devices incorporating a firewall, IPSec VPN capabilities, and denial of service mitigation, with Unified Threat Management (UTM) security features including Stateful firewall, IPS, Antivirus, Anti-Spyware, Anti-Phishing, Anti-Adware, Anti-Spam, and Web Filtering to protect the network from attack. I’ve installed and manage a lot of Netscreen firewalls. They’re excellent UTM device but if you’re looking for a cheaper option, then Sonicwall also can do the job.

Kismet

KismetKismet is a very powerful and popular wireless network detector, sniffer, and intrusion detection system. Kismet will work with any wireless card which supports raw monitoring (rfmon) mode, and can sniff 802.11b, 802.11a, and 802.11g traffic. Kismet identifies networks by passively collecting packets and detecting standard named networks, detecting (and given time, decloaking) hidden networks, and infering the presence of nonbeaconing networks via data traffic. It can automatically detect network IP blocks by sniffing TCP, UDP, ARP, and DHCP packets, log traffic in Wireshark/TCPDump compatible format, and even plot detected networks and estimated ranges on downloaded maps.

Airsnort

Airsnort-1Airsnort is a wireless LAN (WLAN) tool which cracks WEP encryption keys. Sonicwall

SonicwallsSonicWALL’s family of Internet security appliances provide the first line of defense against Internet security threats. It’s an Unified Threat Management (UTM) firewall, with features like Gateway Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware, Intrusion Prevention, Enforced Desktop Anti-Viurs, Content Filtering Service and IPSec VPN. Designed to increase security by reducing complexity, SonicWALL Internet security appliances eliminate the cost and complexity of using separate devices and software packages for comprehensive and effective security. Sonicwall is one of the cheapest UTM firewall solution available in the market. If the cost is not a concern then you might be interested in Netscreen as well.
